The Belgian team announced on Thursday that it would deprive all of its runners of a possible selection for the European championships organized in Plouay at the end of August. Leaders say high risk of contamination from mixed nationalities, that could jeopardize the team’s goals. So, John Degenkolb, Philippe Gilbert, Thomas De Gendt or Tim Wellens will not go to Brittany to try to hang the prestigious star jersey, owned by Elia Viviani and Remco Evenepoel in men, by Amy Pieters and Ellen Van Dijk in women, without forgetting the brand new title of European mixed CLM champion, owned by the Dutch team.
