Selon le Het Nieuwsblad, the International Olympic Committee plans to set a compulsory fortnight before any participation in the Games organized in Tokyo. A constraint which cyclists should not derogate from, who therefore find themselves in a delicate situation since the Tour de France must end 6 just days before the event. It is very likely that those who wish to participate in the Olympic Games, like Remco Evenepoel, Vincenzo Nibali, Julian Alaphilippe or Filippo Ganna, will have to make a cross on the Tour de France, or at least leave the event along the way. A delicate situation, because we know the runners' attachment to the Grande Boucle, and a participation for the first stages only would not delight many people. A request for an exemption for cycling may be requested, but the chances of seeing it applied are slim. We will have to make choices in 2021…
The Tour or the Games, you will probably have to choose
