The former world time trial champion and Giro winner has more than one string to his bow. He decided to change his usual schedule this season, by skipping the Ardennes classics to focus on the Flandrian events, on which he has not appeared for several years. So, after a recovery on the Strade Bianche the 06 mars, followed by Tirreno Adriatico on 10 and Milan San Remo on 20, he will take over the management of Belgium to accompany Wout Van Aert on the E3 Saxo Bank Classic, as well as on the Tour of Flanders. A special program that could allow him to express himself on this new ground for him, personally or as a teammate of the vice world champion. He will then head to the Tour de Romandie, scheduled on 27 avril, which suggests that he is preparing for the Tour de France rather than the Giro, located just after the finish of the Swiss event. However, he has not yet announced what his major goal will be this year, the Olympic Games complicating the choices of many leaders.
