The young colt of the Deceuninck Quick Step has had difficult months since his fall on the Tour of Lombardy. With several fractures, he had to undergo long months of rehabilitation to regain all his means and resume high-level training. But things have gotten a little more complicated in recent weeks, and the return to the bike planned these days will eventually have to be postponed until early February, his rehabilitation taking longer than expected. Indeed, his bones are not yet sufficiently consolidated to allow him to resume training without risk. Enough to compromise his participation in the Giro ? “We have to be careful […] and wait to see if we will take any risks for the Giro”, confided Patrick Lefevere, son manager. We will therefore have to be attentive to the coming weeks for Remco Evenepoel, who will celebrate 21 years on 25 next january.
