Paris Nice will not arrive in Nice this Sunday

The Race to the Sun, drawn between the capital and the Mediterranean, traditionally happens on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. But last year, the start of the pandemic had forced the organizer to cancel the last stage. For this edition 2021, the return of the Côte de Peille, the Col d'Eze and the Col des Quatre Chemins in particular was therefore eagerly awaited for the final stage. But the health situation forced the municipality of Nice to reconfine the population for a few days, forcing the organizer to revise his plans for the finish. Indeed, the city of Nice has requested a modification to the route of the 8th stage so that the finish is not in the city. This edition 2021 will therefore again be deprived of a finish in Nice. A modification plan is being studied by the organizer and the UCI and will probably be announced before the weekend.
