Selle Italia Novus Boost Evo Kit Carbonio Superflow

by William Duvigneau

Today we test a new model from the Italian saddle manufacturer, la Novus Boost Evo Superflow, a copy of which is to be won during the Giro for the CT Race (on the Cycling Times Instagram page). I was able to try the high-end version of the model here, with carbon rails, that I will present to you in detail without further delay.

A specific waved saddle

You probably know it, we do not choose a saddle as we would choose a pair of wheels. Indeed, you need to know your morphology and your position on the bike to determine the type of saddle that best suits your practice. With this Novus Boost, Selle Italia offers a waved saddle that is aimed at riders with a rear pelvis rotation, and thus completes its range by offering a new specific product for practitioners concerned by this characteristic. Concretely, if you tend to retract your pelvis forward when you are on your machine, this saddle is made for you. For those who have a rather reversed profile, with a pelvis more oriented towards the rear and therefore a slight arch in the back, a Flite type saddle is more suitable. Finally, those of you who do not have pelvic rotation can opt for the traditional SLR, which has also proven itself. The wavy shape of the Novus Boost gives more support to the ischial bones and thus facilitates movement during outings. Available in one size, this model is based on the IdMatch system developed by the brand, which allows you to find the ideal saddle based on the morphology and position of the pelvis. So, it becomes very easy to find the right saddle the first time, which will save you unsuccessful and sometimes painful attempts.

Quality at the rendezvous

Like always, the italian brand remains true to its reputation, with a very worked model and an impeccable finish. We find the high-end standards, and its 165g weight is what you would expect from a model with carbon rails. Offered at around € 270, we are on a performance-oriented model, who will accompany you on your training trips and competitions as best as possible, avoiding the inconvenience associated with entry-level models. Several versions are available for this model, with different types of rails. It is therefore necessary to count 270 € for carbon rails, but we can easily lower the price by switching to the TI316 model offered at 200 €. For those looking for a model more in line with their budget and who do not want to invest so much in a saddle, the manganese versions (100€) and Fec Alloy (80€) are also available. Something to satisfy all wallets, with a very interesting level of performance and comfort.

My opinion

Generally, this model perfectly meets expectations. The finish is there, comfort too. This is a very good model for both endurance rides and short and intense efforts.. Furthermore, it is a very resistant and durable product that will follow you without problems for thousands of kilometers. The riders corresponding to the profile mentioned above will find their happiness with this very worked saddle, which enriches the manufacturer's offer of the new high-quality element. I highly recommend this product to practitioners who are rather stable on their machine and who have rear pelvic rotation..
