A.B “My name is Alexandre Balmer, I have 21 years old and I have been a WorldTour rider on the BikeExchange Jayco team since this year and I do mountain biking on the side ».
B.G. What are your ambitions for 2022?
A.B “My ambition for 2022 will be not to make a white season, due to a knee injury that has not yet healed. As for the results, I hope to win the U23 Worlds in mountain biking and to stand out more in my new team and help my leaders.”.
As a reminder, Alexandre Balmer suffered a knee inflammation, due to over-training. It reflects its season 2021 in the FDJ-Groupama reserve team where he lacked success. The man from Chaux-de-Fonnier experienced several physical glitches following repeated falls.
B.G Which runner profile are you? Puncheur? Wheeler?
A.B "I think I'm a good overall rider. I have good recovery skills. Then yes, I am a good rider/climber which allows me to be quite active”.
B.G. Some advice for young people who would like to become a professional runner ?
A.B “The advice I could give would be to be patient, not wanting to be professional at all costs. And enjoy what they do, for me it is the basis. Because we must not skip the stages ».
B.G. Why did you leave Groupama FDJ?
A.B "I left the Groupama FDJ training because he did not want me to combine mountain biking and the road in the long term".
Alexandre Balmer is very attached to mountain biking. He was European Junior Mountain Bike Champion in 2018 and world champion the same year. And vice-champion of Europe on the junior road in 2018. It is therefore to be able to also do mountain biking that he signed in the team of Brent Copeland.
